From looking at Road Scholars Magazine in this and the past two issues, you easily might think we’ve fallen in love with Florida, or just discovered it! Florida has had a vibrant automobile culture since World War II. From racing statewide, to concours and show events on Amelia Island and in Miami, to the mecca for historians, researchers, and enthusiasts at Miles Collier’s REVS Institute in Naples, to auctions all over the state, the comfortable winter and spring seasons have plenty to offer car lovers. Just take our current story list as an example: Richard Newton attended the Miami Beach Concours for us. He came away astounded. And very impressed. Randy Wells also ventured to Miami but for a racing car oriented Das Renn Treffen. (We also look at its west coast sibling Luftgekült in this issue.) These events also impressed us!

Before and after those Florida travels, Sean Smith brings us up to date with Rob Dickinson and Singer Vehicle Design, and Sean Cridland introduces us to John Straub who has simply let the passage of time redesign his 911 (see the photo above.)

Over the next few months, we’re going to shift gears a bit to bring you some new ideas and introduce you to some new names and voices. We’ll keep you posted, and from time to time we’ll have some questions for you as well. In the meanwhile, enjoy our May issue. And thanks for reading us.
