Introducing Project 73 of just seventy-five examples of the DLS built by Singer with just 17 delivery miles.

The DLS is the ultimate expression of an air-cooled Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer. Project 73 is third to last Dynamics and Lightweighting Study (DLS) built by Singer and considered a more desirable late-production EVO example.  Painted in Fluid Silver with ghosted dark contrasting Porsche lettering in Earth Blue, Project 73 is a timeless build that delivers refined visual elegance. In other words, it’s a Singer DLS that isn’t trying too hard.

With over $400,000 in options, Project 73 combines tasteful combinations of bare carbon and Fluid Silver counterbalanced with Loch Carbon Tartan Highland Granite Blue Heavyweight material seats. The nickel accents on the bright trim and wheel finish, highlight the use of subtle details, to make a powerful statement. The thoughtfully optioned front axle lift provides some practicality for using Project 73 on memorable drives on public roads.

Built in collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering, Williams was responsible for much of the car’s dynamic nature, having entirely redesigned both the front and rear suspension, and braking system (boasting similar Brembo carbon ceramic disc brakes to a Bugatti Chiron), analyzing the car’s aerodynamics, and building what many believe to be one of the world’s greatest air-cooled engines. The list of other collaborators in the DLS project is equally impressive: Michelin have designed a bespoke set of tires, Recaro designed the seats, Momo designed a bespoke steering wheel, and BBS has crafted a unique set of 18-inch wheels bespoke to the DLS.

The highlight of the Singer DLS is of course the powertrain. The engine is a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter six-cylinder with four valves per cylinder that was designed with help from the legendary Hans Mezger. Not only does this engine sound extraordinary as it revs through to the 9,300 rpm redline but it pumps out 500 hp, roughly on par with the 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3. This is of course experienced through the rear wheels and with a six-speed manual gearbox. Just google Chris Harris DLS test drives and it will give you a sense of the experience.

Ollie Marriage’s quote for BBC’s Top Gear summarizes perfectly what the DLS is like driving on public roads:

“The DLS is calmly astonishing. It could just deliver beauty and speed – many exotics do – and we’d admire and appreciate it. But this indulgent and meticulous device is wonderfully multi-layered with abilities that creep up on you. It’s a car that will magnify, intensify and endlessly enrich whatever driving you’re doing. So do something amazing in it.”

We believe the Singer DLS has a long runway ahead and will be reviewed in time as an analog experience pushed to its limits. This is the air-cooled 911 at its very best. Project 73 is ready to go…are you?
