Editor’s Note:

At the risk of bragging, our co-founder and co-publisher Cam Ingram had a pretty good time at the 67th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 20, 2017. After several years of exhausting research, preparation, and restoration work, Cam and his Road Scholars Restorations team took First Place in Class O-1, Post War Open (cars) with their work on his parents’ – Robert and Jeanie Ingram’s – 1952 Porsche Typ 356 Reutter Cabriolet. As one observer put it, this is a notoriously competitive class. This was Cam’s second entry – and second class win – at Pebble Beach, the first time coming in 2011 with Hans-Peter Porsche’s 1949 356/2 Gmünd Coupe. You’ll be able to read more about this 2017 win and the restoration process in our sister publication Road Scholars Insights.

As for RSM’s coverage of the week, we concentrated on the purely – or strongly – Porsche events, meaning Concours on the Avenue in Carmel, Werks Reunion, and, of course, the auctions. Our favorite observer Kevin Watts weighs in first of all on the auctions and on the enduring questions of why some did well and why others….

Then please join us when our regular contributor Sean Cridland puts on his photojournalist cap and shows us what we missed on Ocean Avenue in Carmel by the sea or at the Werks Reunion’s new location at Corral de Tierra Country Club.

Then finally, we offer you the long report of auction results from the five houses that offered Porsches (plus a few other significant automobiles) during the Monterey Weekend.

Thanks for reading us!
