We take a few historical looks in this issue, views that, in the end bring us up to coming events. Road Scholars Magazine co-founder, Kevin Watts, offers us his always insightful and ever-candid assessment of recent auction activity in Monaco. We continue to watch and report on car auctions, and we already are planning our coverage for the Monterey-Carmel sales in August.

Regular contributor, Sean Cridland, shows and tells us the history of Porsche at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (notice the photo above). This is an especially timely review because the 2016 running takes place on Sunday, June 26th. Next, Warner Hall alerts us to another tie (and no-less seemingly incongruous than Porsches at Pikes Peak) between Porsche cars and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This year the Concours takes place on Sunday, August 21st.

Sean Smith introduces us to Wolfgang Denzel and his cars, VW-derived as the early Porsches were, but sometimes more effective at the races than the early Porsches were! To close this issue, long-time contributor Randy Wells introduces a new and occasional feature – part travelogue/part travel-motivator – on great drives, great roads, and great experiences. The different voices and styles of all our contributors – and a few others – will take you places and show you things that we hope will get you out in your own cars.
