Details and Story:

Fifty years ago a small Japanese car firm named Mazda introduced the Wankel rotary engine in a production car. The legend of Mazda Rotary engine that has become so revered was born. Here in the U.S. and around the world the rotary was more of a novelty until the introduction of Mazda’s first true sports car the RX7 in 1979. The affordable sports car – from any manufacturer – was in its twilight with British Leland failing fast when Mazda stepped in to fill the void. The RX-7 debut amazed the automotive world. Car & Driver, and Road & Track were blown away and the public literally couldn’t get enough of them. The engineering, fit and finish, exterior and interior design, and that high-revving 7,000 rpm Rotary engine was exactly what the car world was yearning for: great performance in an attractive package with a novel powerplant and an affordable price.
These same attributes are exactly why a great RX7 is so hard to find now; owners simply drove them until they died! Our first year RX7 has covered only 28,000 miles and it retains its original rare, Red Copper paint as well as the optional, matching plaid interior. The car runs and drives great, and it will bring you right back to the affordable sports cars days!
