In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 911 Porsche debuted at the Frankfurt auto show in September of 1963, a run of only 1,963 911-50th anniversary cars were commissioned by Porsche Ag . This run of 911s would be limited to only 2 special colors (Geyser and Graphite grey) with exclusive exterior bright grill work and badging. Under the engine lid, it would feature the 430hp “power kit”. The interior would incorporate the iconic houndstooth patterned seat inserts (used on the original show cars) and the exclusive Sport Chrono package would be standard on these limited models.
Our 50th anniversary car raises the bar in terms of exclusivity with the addition and deletion of 2 items. The addition of the 7-speed manual transmission is truly rare among new Porsches. The vast majority opt for the PDK transmission, which is easy to drive with today’s modern distractions. But the manual, when combined with the power kit is fantastic! Huge, tractable power band combined with the sensation of manually shifting gears makes for a great, exhilarating drive. And the deletion of the outward sliding sunroof adds another dimension to the rarity of this 911, leaving the smooth lines of the car to speak for themselves. Plus, the addition of the Alcantara headliner adds to the elegance of the exclusive interior.
