This exceptional ’70 T we found not long ago in northern California that sill sported it’s original Signal Orange factory paint. Purchased new at Carlsen Porsche/Audi on 8/10/1970, then moved close by to San Mateo. It remained in the Bay Area for the next 43 years.
This 911T was an excellent, rust free car with no signs of any damage. However, after days of rubbing we couldn’t bring the original paint back to our standards. Therefore, we were forced to repaint the car and per usual, that was only the beginning. With our high standard for detail, once we make one thing on a car as close to perfect as possible, it’s very difficult for us to not take it all the way to perfection.
The engine had great service records and had recently had the chain tensioners rebuilt, but the update is cheap insurance and the engine had to be cleaned anyway. We pulled it out, serviced and cleaned it. Making sure the mechanicals are dialed in ensuring it’s next driver that it needs nothing.
The interior was original, but just didn’t match the finish of the engine and exterior. The carpet, headliner, dashboard, and door pockets were redone and a set of German reproduction sport seats were installed.
Since our completion, the T has been enjoyed by one of our long term local clients here in North Carolina. Being the quintessential car guy that he is, he meticulously maintained the 911 and brought it to us with service needs. Only compiling approximately 1,800 miles in a few years, let’s just say we know this particular 911T very well.
Making a trip back through Road Scholars for it’s second time, this is a cool 911T in a very desirable color with its books, records, and toolkit. Only in need of a new driver who wants to enjoy everything an early 70’s T represents.
