In 1964, the 356 C was the final revision of the 356 and introduced a handful of small changes. The more powerful, 75 horsepower engine from the B 1600 Super engine with dual Solex carburetors became the entry-level engine, and disc brakes at all four corners became the standard. Aside from a “C” model designation badge at the rear, there were no visual changes from the B.
Chassis 160353 was delivered new to Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville, Florida in Sky Blue paintwork with a matching blue leather interior. On the original Kardex, only three options are listed: Chrome perforated steel disc wheels, a driver-side rearview mirror, and blue coco mats.
In 2014 its previous owner commissioned a high-level restoration by a respected Porsche restoration shop in California. Chassis 160353 was already a solid, numbers matching car, so it was carefully dismantled and stripped to bare metal before being repainted the darker shade of Bali Blue. The interior was then trimmed in brown leather and beige square weave carpeting. Prior to being reassembled, all the suspension and chassis components were refinished and the drivetrain cleaned and detailed. The restoration was documented throughout the entire process, including photos of the date stamps on the 356s original components.
Since its completion, its previous owner has driven it sparingly and kept it in impeccable condition, along with the original manual, tool roll, jack, and extensive documentation including all invoices from the restoration. This 356 C cabriolet is an ideal candidate for anyone in search of a high-level driver which has been fully sorted, both mechanically and aesthetically, and in need of nothing but a new owner to drive and enjoy it for years to come.
