U. S. Army Serviceman Joe Buzzetta bought this competition Speedster from Glockler dealership in Frankfurt on July 7, 1959 while stationed nearby.

He raced the car extensively in Europe, coming to the attention of Porsche Competition Director Huschke von Hanstein. Von Hanstein signed Joe to be a factory driver, initiating what would be an illustrious driving career for Joe that lasted through 1968.
