Elva Porsche Chassis P70/032 was built in February of 1964 and shipped to Oliver Schmidt (Team Owner) of Scuderia Tin Can Racing from Carl Haas (Importer) for the upcoming USSRC season.

The Elva Porsche is the product of development by two firms that devoted their capabilities to a produce a new car that blended the air-cooled rear engine and gearbox of Porsche with the sleek lightweight chassis Elva Cars, Ltd. The RS-1688cc engine was fitted with a horizontal cooling fan ‘borrowed’ from Porsche’s F1 car. Elva 13-inch magnesium wheels and Girling disc brakes were used. These and other modifications made it necessary for Porsche to change the Spyder gearing and to allow for an increase in chassis stiffness and roll resistance.

This Elva was campaigned by Chuck Dietrich then Don Wester before being co-driven in Road America by Cannon/Hayes. This Elva resided in Dr. Palmez’s collection of Porsche race cars for many years. They Produced 19 Porsche Elva’s (2 came with out a drive train) of which 12 are known to exist! The car is easily recognizable being it is the only Porsche Elva with this particular rear body work and still retains it’s original four cam motor (#90410).
