Wouldn’t it be nice to own an early 911 that has the look of an original car without wondering what is truly underneath that lovely history?
This 1966 model year 911 is a great opportunity for any Porsche enthusiast who enjoys these cars for what they are: a blast to drive! This is an automobile for someone who simply wants to get behind the wheel and find the good roads. Chassis no. 304207 is an honest surviving 911 with all matching numbers (we have the Kardex and Porsche COA verification.) It has never been a rust bucket and it still wears its original California black plates (not those modern replicas the state is issuing these days.)
We acquired this ’66 from a great client but it wasn’t running. We hemmed and hawed over it, vacillating between simply offing the rare black 911 as-is, or making it a great driver. We finally decided this would be a fantasic, rust-free driver that didn’t need to be restored. Once the decision was made the only thing left to do was throw some time and money (well north of $30,000) at it. Chassis 304207 is now as honest a 911 as they get and, and it remains unrestored. This Porsche is that “great driver” we have all been looking for.
We have completely rebuilt the engine, checked all the mechanicals, and gone over the wear items, making sure this 911 is ready to be enjoyed as it sits. Dotting every “I” and crossing every “T”, we’ve made certain this 911 needs nothing in order for it’s next owner to feel comfortable and secure. And happy!
With only one repaint (confirmed by paint meter) and an untouched, original chassis, this is it. This Porsche hasn’t been robbed of its original parts during a half-assed restoration; it has all of its proper original bits and pieces on the car just as it came.
The original Black was repainted many moons ago and it has acquired a great patina. We did strip and paint the hood and then simply touched up a couple of spots as to not ruin the killer patina. The interior carpet was worn (simply rough) and the seats flattened so we installed a new carpet set and re-stuffed the seats. The original steering wheel matched the carpet so we re-finished it and the wood on the dash to show what a little love would do to this diamond in the rough.
We are proud to offer chassis no. 304207, and we are confident we have spent money wisely, knowing its next owner will absolutely love the ride. It’s mechanically redone and fully sorted-out now, with just the right amount of patina. This highly desirable and rust free 1966 Porsche 911, in one of Porsche’s rarest colors in that time “Black”, simply deserves to be out on the road, driven, shown off, and enjoyed!
