Manufactured in May of 1971, this Targa was well maintained and cared for by one owner most of its life. Delivered new to Henry Rees at Auto Hamer in Montreal, Canada, who kept impeccable records throughout his ownership including a hand-written detailed journal that is broken down according to mileage as he drove and cared for his 911E. Henry’s journal and the car’s original Bill of Sale, (along with complete service records of course,) will likely be cherished by the next proud driver as part of the car’s history and provenance.
This E is right up our alley! The “E” stands for Einspritz, or injection and Porsche introduced Bosch mechanical fuel injection on the 911 S and E models starting in 1969. We simply couldn’t resist it after seeing all of its records and admiring its overall original condition. The Adriatic Blue paint still shines well and has a nice patina that not only gives it tons of character but also verifies its unmolested body. Inside, this 911 is exactly what you would expect from a well cared for interior that is 45 years old. Seats show little sign of wear; the dashboard has no cracks, and the carpet in great shape resting on its original pans.
One of 935 of the E Targas assembled in ’71, this particular surviving 911 is looking for a garage where it will be preserved, loved, and enjoyed. We have completed a full service on this car and so this Targa needs nothing from a mechanical standpoint but a driver behind the wheel.
When push comes to shove we buy cars we like, and this is NO exception. We like this E Targa and we’re confident the next owner will too.
