Whether this will be your first Turbo or you add this to your collection of many of them, this 993 is perfect for someone who is looking for that turbocharged thrill and is afraid of today’s market when looking at very low mileage Turbo Porsches and certainly the rare Turbo S models. This is the car for someone who wants a 911 Turbo in a good price point, and, perhaps even more importantly, who doesn’t have to worry about putting additional mileage on the odometer. This is a Turbo to drive.
This particular example has had four owners in its 20 years since new, and judging from its overall condition, each one pampered it and maintained it well. The Polar Silver paint shines brilliantly, and the car’s original interior in great condition and shows little wear. The first owner checked off many of the boxes on the factory order pages: Optional equipment include four Rim Caps with Porsche Crest, Lumbar Support, Digital Sound Package, AM/FM Radio with CD Player, Supple Leather Seats in the front and rear, Self Dimming Mirrors and Rain Sensor, Porsche Floor Mats, the Heated Seats Package, the eight CD Storage system, Metal Door Sill Model Insignia, Aluminum Instrument Dials, Head Restraints Stamped with Porsche Crest, Carbon Shifter and Brake Handle, Carbon Instrument Carrier in the Lower Dash, and Carbon Door Panel Inserts.
Porsche assembled 1,357 of the 993 Turbos for model year 1996 for the U.S. market and Canadian markets, amounting to slight more than a third of the entire world 993 Turbo production. Zuffenhausen fitted all of them with the legendary Hans Mezger-designed 3.6-liter M64/60 air-cooled twin-turbocharged (and intercooled) flat six, with all-wheel drive, and a manual six-speed gearbox. It developed 408 horsepower at 5,750rpm and produced a massive 398 foot-pounds of torque at 4,500rpm. When new, full-throttle acceleration got you from zero-to-sixty miles per hour in 4.3 seconds, and to this day, the engine delivers a snarl that will stand the hairs on the back of your neck on end in a fraction of that time! Your smile will arrive instantly. At slightly more than 3,300 pounds, these cars are quick and nimble.
This ’96 Turbo is ready to rock’n’roll as we’ve just had a $22K service completed. The new Porsche Classic navigation system is on order and it will be installed before delivery to you. This Turbo is fully serviced, sorted, and done. It’s a 993 Turbo that certainly will turn heads with its proud new owner behind the wheel. And that should be you!
