With only two owners and just seven thousand miles from new, this 1997 Twin Turbo is as nice as you will see. Porsche produced approximately 1,500 of the Typ 993 Turbos for the US market, making it nowhere near as rare as its bigger brother, the Turbo S. However, the additional 20 BHP (approximately) of the Turbo S is hardly worth it to most owners, and it’s always fun to buy a nearly new 911 twenty years plus after it left Stuttgart.
The 993 Turbo was a flagship 911 for Porsche when it was introduced in 1995. This introduced a new twin-turbo 3.6-liter displacement air-cooled opposed-six delivering 402 horsepower, by means of Redesigned cylinder heads, air-to-air intercoolers, and new electronic management system. This was Porsche’s first all-wheel drive turbo following the limited-production Typ 959 a decade earlier. Important to note the ’97 and ’98 models received stronger transmission shafts due to the power and AWD platform. Fuel efficiency was superior to its predecessors and one of the first production cars in the world with second-generation On-Board-Diagnostic sensors (OBDII), making the 993 Turbo the cleanest sports of its time.
Aesthetics differ from the Carrera with widened wheel arches, redesigned bumpers, the famed whale tail, and new 18-inch alloy wheels. All of this fell within Porsche designer Tony Hatter’s vision and it delivered significant advancements over its Typ 964 predecessor. The 993 is technically and visually one of Porsche’s most beloved 911s, making huge technological advancements towards a more comfortable and better driving experience.
This TT ending in 376005 is everything you would expect it to be. It has been well cared for over its 22 years and essentially is just as it left the factory.
