The Annual Monterey Porsche Auction Frenzy & Spectacular seems a bit subdued this year. Admittedly, we compiled this list shortly after July 4, more than seven weeks before the sales are scheduled. In this same time span last year, the sales houses added nearly 40 cars to their preliminary lot lists so this still may be the tip of the iceberg. The two obvious stars are David Gooding with a 1955 Typ 550-0053 and Dana Mecum with a 1958 Typ 550A-0141. Both cars have interesting racing histories yet, as many of you know, these are capable, delightful historic tourers. We will try to have accurate lot numbers for you in our August issue, as well as any additions to the bill-of-fare.
