September Editor’s Note

Just when you thought you were done with the Monterey Peninsula from August, we bring you two souvenirs. Writer/photojournalist Sean Cridland takes us back for a thoughtful and entertaining look at the Concours on the Avenue, and at the Werks Reunion. Regular contributor Randy Wells weighs in with the story of one man’s passion for an historic 911ST, and our other regular voice Richard Newton offers you several good reasons to call your insurance broker. Finally, co-publisher Kevin Watts takes us for a drive down his memory lane, then along a new road, all sandwiched between air and sea adventures. In this issue, we ventured into the old Life Magazine territory with more than three dozen images illustrating our stories. The photo editing process was a tough challenge.

Lastly, we are not done with Monterey. In fact, we have it prominently on our calendars. The last weekend of September draws us back to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca when the venue becomes the site of Porsche Rennsport Reunion V. For most of us it will feel something akin to what we fantasized it could be like getting locked inside a candy store as a child. We will be there, observing, taking notes, and making pictures for you to enjoy next month.

We look forward to seeing you in Monterey.
