“We designed our showroom to be the anti-car dealership,” Cam Ingram explained. “We want to cater to the true car enthusiast and connoisseur who can come to our shops to catch up on car gossip, the latest print magazines, and get good coffee or something cold to drink.” The 9,000 square-foot building was extensively remodeled and incorporates a new state-of-the-art service facility that Road Scholars designed and built from scratch.
Cam Ingram, Kevin Watts, and a friend or two found most of the furniture in regional antique stores. They refurbished and repurposed a number of industrial pieces recycled from Pittsburgh steel mills and the many textiles mills in North Carolina. Artwork on the walls comes from photographer Michael Furman with enlarged color prints of images from the book Porsche Unexpected. Archival black-and-white photos come from Road Scholars Magazine editor Randy Leffingwell and his files.
The handsome custom service cabinets came from Shark Inc, a technical workspace designer and manufacturer in Kent WA.
The building is well-located on the Durham side of Research Triangle Park, just five minutes drive from RDU International Airport and nestled between highways I-40 and US70. The dealership is open from 10:00am-6:00pm (Monday-Friday) and by special appointment on the weekends. Service Hours are 8:00am-5:00pm (Monday-Friday). It is located at:
Road Scholars East location:

Road Scholars West is intended as a more intimate environment, in keeping with the comfortable lifestyle and attitudes of Washington state’s San Juan Islands.
This 2,000-squre foot service and storage facility is located on San Juan Island, and visitors and friends can reach the island by Washington Ferry, or by seaplane or wheeled aircraft. While the San Juan Islands are known as a boater’s paradise, this particular island offers wonderful uncluttered roads on which to drive and enjoy your classic cars.
Road Scholars partners Kevin Watts and Cam Ingram designed the building, taking good advantage of contemporary northwest architecture, including its easily-recognized clear cedar siding. Open strictly by appointment only, it is located at:
